Tea Time and Seaweed

Have you ever tried seaweed snacks? These sheets of dried seaweed have become very popular over the last few years and are available in a variety of flavors like wasabi and cinnamon sugar. I’m a big fan of seaweed snacks, and I’m always on the lookout for new seaweed treats. Recently, I learned about a new Portland company called Cup of Sea. Josh Rogers, the owner, makes several blends of seaweed teas mixing green tea, kelp, rice, and a seaweed called dulse into interesting new flavors. I tried the genmaicha tea called “Toastie Coastie” made from kelp and rice. I thought it would taste salty like the ocean, but it was smooth, subtle, and earthy instead. His teas are full of minerals and nutrients, so they’re good for you too! If you want to learn more about Cup of Sea check out this article or if you’re really adventurous and live in the Portland area you could try one of his teas at Arabica, a Portland coffee shop.
