GMRI's Vital Signs Program

Monday, January 6, 2014 by Christine Voyer

Are you into insects, plants, streams, lakes, woods, wetlands, or tide pools? Maybe you’re just curious what’s in your own backyard. Whatever your interest, you can use your skills as a scientist to help figure out where the invasive species are in Maine and where they aren’t.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Choose a Field Mission to contribute to or check out the Vital Signs map to see what other’s are looking for
  • Explore your own backyard or another spot that’s important to you and collect species observations
  • Share your data with expert scientists and other citizen scientists when you publish to the Vital Signs website

Don’t stop there! You can also share multimedia projects in the Project Bank, and comment on one another’s work to ask questions and share expertise.
