Bridge - Ocean Sciences Education Teacher Resource Center

The Bridge, Sea Grant Ocean Sciences Education Center, is a growing collection of the best marine education resources available on-line. It provides educators with a convenient source of accurate and useful information on global, national, and regional marine science topics, and gives researchers a contact point for educational outreach.

Gulf of Maine Research Institute

The Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) uses innovative computing and communications technologies to teach and learn about aquatic environments. GMRI's website includes topics that range from how satellites image the Earth to detailed examinations of species and habitats including lobsters, turtles, herring, marine mammals, and aquatic environments from Katahdin to the sea.

Ocean Planet

Ocean Planet has six lesson plans. "Sea Secrets" explores ocean geography; "Sea Connections" looks at the plants and animals that live in different marine ecosystems. "Ocean Market" identifies and values many products of the seas. "Pollution Solution" examines the effects of an environmental crisis. "Stranded Along the Coast" explores both natural and human causes of animal strandings. Finally, "Reflections on the Sea" explores the influence of oceans on language and literature. These lessons in this online booklet well guide students to better understand the diversity and importance of the seas.

SEA Academics

SEA is an educational institution dedicated to the study of the ocean environment and its relationship to the Earth and to human affairs. We invite you to browse this award winning K-12 content. The lesson plans are listed by grade level and topic, allowing you to quickly find a lesson plan that will be of use in your classroom. Many of these lesson plans were designed by teachers who have participated in our SEA Experience program.

SeaWorld/Busch Gardens

Teacher's Guides have been developed at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens to help you teach your students-in an active, hands-on way-about how people interact with the environment and how we can best care for Earth's resources. Each guide includes goals and objectives, information, vocabulary, a bibliography, and classroom activities. Activities strive to integrate science, mathematics, geography, art, and language.

Secrets@Sea

Teachers and students are invited to log on to the world's first online ocean adventure learning game. Easy to set-up in the classroom and quick to download, Secrets @ Sea is deep with educational content! Ace on the Case: Secrets @ Sea is a curriculum-based adventure story for grade 4-7 students on the World Wide Web. This engaging website game complements ocean-theme units of study in the classroom and enhances students' learning experiences using the Internet.

Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium presents Shedd Educational Adventures (SEA), a treasure trove of aquatic science resources for K-12 teachers and students. SEA brings the ocean world to life for your students with fact sheets and multimedia interactives based on exhibits at the Shedd Aquarium. Dive into the SEA today!

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

Situated in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Bigelow Laboratory offers a wealth of online resources and lesson plans about marine science - from lobster larvae simulation games to on-line tours of the rocky shore! You can also find out how to order copies of the dynamic Phytopia CD-ROM, an interactive, 3D showcase of tiny plant plankton.

The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment

The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment is a U.S.-Canadian partnership of organizations working for environmental quality in the Gulf of Maine to allow for sustainable resource use. This website contains Gulf of Maine news, contact directories, habitat primers, and more! You can also subscribe to the free publication, the Gulf of Maine Times.
