Live Lobsters...at School!

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

"What's in that box?" Sixth grade students at Oxford Elementary School are curious. Through a game of 20 questions, they discover there are lobsters in their classroom! Brought to you by Maine's lobstermen and available at your local grocery store, lobsters can literally become your class's special guest. Using their 5 senses, students gain a deeper understanding of these underwater creatures. Students work in small groups (with a live lobster) to make observations, take measurements, and create scientific drawings. While immersed in their work, they enjoy a snack of...you guessed it, lobster! Kudos to the Oxford Elementary teachers for making this science experience come alive for their students, melted butter and all!
