Vital Signs

Anyone with an interest in learning and contributing to scientific research is invited to join Maine’s Vital Signs community. We are a diverse community of students, educators, professional scientists, and citizen scientists working together to share critical environmental information about freshwater, coastal, and upland systems. Encourage your students to contribute to this real environmental research effort! They can use the science skills they practice during their LabVenture! experience to start asking and answering questions about the native and invasive species that live in their town.

Students can do Vital Signs on their own using a How-to-Guide.

  • Choose your Mission

  • Do fieldwork! Go out and look for species

  • Use photo evidence to support your claims

  • Cruise the map to find out what your data means

  • Use video or blogs to capture your results and share your experience in creative ways

Or you can make a Vital Signs investigation part of your classroom curriculum:

We look forward to seeing how you and your students participate in the Vital Signs community!  Join us at www.vitalsignsme.org.
